What is YoNav! GPS Navigation? YoNav! is a GPS app that uses the latest features of the Apple Watch Series 2, 3, & 4 to provide a standalone GPS tracking and telemetry experience. Software Features and Description

1. Privacy Policy Summary: YoNav! collects calorie workout data while in operation on the Apple Watch and sends the workout data to Apple's Health app.

2. YoNav! on the Apple Watch Series 2, 3, & 4 is 100% stand alone for GPS tracking and telemetry.

3. YoNav! leverages the latest features of the Apple Watch Series 2, 3, & 4 to put a cutting-edge waterproof standalone GPS on your wrist.

4. When the paired iPhone is not in range the GPS of the Apple Watch Series 2, 3, & 4 is used.

Adding, naming, and editing waypoints and routes is intuitively efficient. Makes any other app seem clumsy. Best method of learning how to properly use the app is to just start tapping, tapping and holding, and generally exploring what the app will do. You will need to engage your brain when something doesn’t appear to work. Ex: vmg requires a destination. You can change a waypoint in the middle of a route in 10 seconds. Really. Impressive. Wish list: share a route and waypoints with fellow the app! sailors, full-screen version for iPad.
Apple Watch bug

I want to love this app because it meets all my needs in paper but I bought it for my watch and it’s unusable. Every time I set a waypoint the watch displays info but when I turn my wrist to view it a second time the app crashes and the app either gets really buggy and I have to force quit it. I have to set the waypoint again and have the same bug occur again. Help!

I race catamarans and many times I go out in extreme conditions to see how fast I can go. I have tried many different speed recording systems. I have used a Velocitek version SC-1 for a speed readout and track top speeds. The problem there is the water spray would change the buttons for the display. The button lock never worked. I was in process of building a shield, when I was forced to do an update that fried the unit. Lately, I have been using RaceQs for speed tracking. The downfall is I would have to pull the phone out to check what we’re doing (phone lives in lifejacket). This becomes a challenge at 20 knots. Using the app on the Apple Watch makes speed and navigation a dream. I have also used iNavX for navigation. iNavX uses USCG charts which is helpful for marine navigation. It is a whole different point of use than the app. The displays on the app are much better than anything I have seen. I have used the app in the car to test it. As with any GPS, it must “see the sky” to work. I was able to play with the app on the water this weekend and it worked great. You don’t have to have the app running on the phone for the watch to work. I really look forward to doing some races with this app. I really like that I can change the number of screens and which data is delivered on the watch. Pure brilliance!!! I’m very impressed.

KISS...Keep It Simple Shannon! App is great.. Do what you do and see where ya did it. Simple and relevant information is displayed in a manor that those who are active need...NUMBERS! If you are into navigation and/or performance tracking, numbers are the key, and not frilly little maps. Though there is a map available in the playback which is cool too.
