What is Casty? Smart Remote is an app that allows you to control your Smart TV easily. It works with most TVs from 2011 and newer, and requires your phone and Smart TV to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. The app offers a fully functional remote control for your Smart TV, automatic connection to a device, volume control, program and channel changing, media playback control, navigation through Smart Hub, and easy text input on web browser or other apps. The premium version of the app also includes a large touchpad and keyboard.

App works okay. One of a few apps that have on phone screen help on how to authorize your phone to your tv. Many of the 6 other apps I’ve tried doesn’t have that, which is why I went with this one. My main problem is because I’m a person with disability, I am unable to use my hands or fingers. Therefore I navigate my phone utilizing a stylus attached to a mouthpiece, which is how I am typing this review. The problem with this app with the navigational direction control arrows. The Left and Right buttons works fine. But both the UP and DOWN arrow buttons are a problem. I’ve messaged developers and requested a fix, but I am still waiting for their reply.
Works okay, some features don’t work

I cannot figure out how to get the keyboard function to work, and this was the main reason I wanted the app. Signing in trying to click each alphabet letter the remote is tedious, so I was hoping to use the keyboard function. The other issue I have is that it loses connectivity every time, and I have to re-pair the the app to the tv, which requires the remote. So if I lose the remote, I’m out of luck. The other features work fine, so not sure why I’m having trouble. The reviews for this app are great in general, could just be me. Tv is brand new smart tv, 50”.
To many ads

So I’ve been using the app as a backup Incase I ever misplace the tv remote. The app works just fine! But it feels annoying that every other button press opens an ad. And this can get very annoying when trying to navigate tv settings. Which is why I’m only giving the app 3 stars. I understand the app is free and it needs some sort of income. But having an ad every 3-7 button presses starts to kill me. I don’t want to pay $6 to remove ads from a backup app when I misplace my remote. In conclusion; good app. Way better then the others!
Unfortunate

I downloaded this app and was thrilled to have a remote on my phone. With the ads and not being able to use the keyboard I didn’t hesitate to spend the 5 dollars for the premium edition which enabled all of that however within a matter of two minutes of having the app I plan to contact Apple to get my money back because now that I have paid for it, it enabled none of the keyboard or number features so basically I paid for a free app just to eliminate ads. Very disappointed
