  • Say Goodbye?

    By None1.2.3.4.5. (Pcmac user)

UPDATED REVIEW: I guess it might be time to say goodbye to my most used app. The functionality seems to be in the Music app on my iPad EXCEPT you now have to PAY to access your OWN music through the app Match! I would be willing to pay for the app but not a subscription to access my own music. We miss you Steve Jobs. When this app works it’s great. I have an all Apple network and devices and have used it for years. Any time there is an OS/iOS update Remote screws up. It’s always the last app to be updated. It’s like the illegitimate app that gets attention only if there’s nothing else to do. Now it doesn’t work with Catalina, SURPRISE! App support link in store takes you to the tv remote. This isn’t some third party app it’s Apple’s and they obviously don’t care about it. The reviews show that this problem has been apparent for over a month. I removed Catalina and don’t plan on updating until Remote gets an update.
  • Missing key feature

    By Schmidlapper (Pcmac user)

This is one of the most used apps I have on my IOS devices, using it to control a headless Mac mini music server. There are no the app alternatives available I’m aware off, as such it is important to me that it continues to remain relevant. For the most part it works flawlessly with a local music library, what it doesn’t do is quite astonishing, it doesn’t allow selecting music from Apple Music. If I choose an album or song in Apple Music using Remote Desktop from a Mac and then start this app on iPad it appears in now playing and functions normally so it seems feasible. Please Apple update this app with Apple Music functionality, don’t make me email Tim Cook over such an obvious shortcoming.
  • Apple has broken the Remote App

    By Mola Cat (Pcmac user)

The Remote App functioned admirably under High Sierra and Mojave, but has ceased to function under Catalina. For several years, I have used the Remote App to control ~500GB of ALAC files on my Mac Mini, from anywhere within range of my wireless router. The Mini streams wirelessly to a third-generation AppleTV, that is optically connected to an external DAC, that feeds a high-end two-channel audio system. Now that I have "upgraded" to Catalina, I can no longer control my lossless music library remotely, and must to create playlists, play, pause, etc. by going to the room where the Mini resides. The idea of buying a new Mac to gain iPad-based control of my desktop, or paying for iCloud storage of ~500GB of lossless music that I own, seems idiotic. If Apple does not address this problem in a meaningful way, and soon, I will be forced to take corrective action. Rather than buy a new Mac and or iCloud storage to solve the problem, I will purchase a dedicated network audio server, dump Apple completely, and be much happier in result. Tim Cook is ruining a once great company. /rant
  • Apple Music Support Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    By Mark S. (Pcmac user)

Now that you plan on shutting down the app with the future ISO 13 software update due in the fall of 2019 this app will be completely useless unless you support Apple Music witch after ISO 13 will be the only way to play your the app library of corse people can still buy music on the the app Store app and then iCloud will automatically send those music files to Apple Music app witch for all purchased music in the app Store app will be able to play on Apple Music app without a Apple Music app membership subscription, The only thing is that you will still need a membership subscription to play anything that you didn’t purchase in the app Store app that’s on Apple Music app!
