- Community-based alerts to upcoming 'Police Spotted' speed traps, accidents, work zones, road hazards, detours, and traffic jams

- Verified alerts from Defender®, the world's largest database of red light, speed, and mobile cameras

- Integrates with compatible ESCORT and Beltronics products to control settings and present alert information

- Live Traffic, Car Finder, Get Directions, Day/Night Mode, and customizable vehicle icons

- Premium Features (requires in-app purchase)

- Radar Relay - ESCORT Live's patented technology that connects radar detectors so that radar/laser alert information is automatically shared among users in real-time

- Posted Speed Limits displayed both in the app and on your connected detector

- Two convenient levels of subscription service - $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year

- 1-year Premium subscription included free with purchase of a compatible ESCORT or Beltronics product.

The app also provides some interesting facts such as radar detectors are legal in 49 states (only Virginia prohibits their use), more than 42 million drivers receive a speeding ticket in the United States each year, and the average speeding ticket costs $150 and increases insurance premiums by $900 over a 3-year period. The ESCORT Live and Cobra iRadar Communities have combined, effectively doubling the number of users contributing radar/laser data and user reports.

Pros:

- The updated app has a much-improved UI and performance compared to the previous version.

- The app provides a lot of information that is easy to obtain and base decisions off of.

- The app's LIVE community feature alerts users of active radar or laser ahead.

- The app is useful for frequent travelers in areas with high radar and laser activity.

Cons:

- The app requires the user to have an Escort radar detector and pay a subscription fee, limiting the number of users.

- The app is not enabled for AppleCarPlay, which may be a disadvantage for some users.

- The new screen setup, especially the size of the speedometer numbers, is horrible and distracting.

- The over speed limit setting doesn't work correctly, and the red speedometer numbers are impossible to see.

- The design of the dashboard is fussy and distracting, with not enough visual contrast.

  • I used to like it now I love it!!

    By demsun (Pcmac user)

I’ve been a loyal the app fan and customer for at least 10 years and the only negative to the whole system was the app. The UI was very buggy and the connection to the detector was like playing Russian roulette. The new updated app is MILES ahead of the old in appearance and performance. Very intuitive and full of information that is easy to obtain and base decisions off of and makes you appreciate the concept of the LIVE community even more. This update was worth the wait. Relocating to an area that is around 5-6 hours from my home town, I make frequent trips home to see family through north Florida and South Georgia which are hot beds for laser and radar activity. I know the system has paid for itself more than once. Keep up the good work the app.
  • New app is horrendous

    By ToddC88 (Pcmac user)

The new app is a complete 180 from the last version as far as usability and it has bugs. The new screen setup, especially the size of the speedometer numbers is horrible. In the old app I could easily see everything while driving without being distracted from the road. Now you can’t even see your speed much less any alerts without staring intently at the screen. The over speed limit setting doesn’t work correctly (bug) and even when it is turned off your speedometer number still turns red. When the numbers are red they are impossible to see. There is also no difference between the day and night settings (another bug). Please, please, please offer the old version of the app to make this app useful again. I’ve been giving this new version my best attempt to somehow like it but I don’t think it is possible. the app has taken a perfectly good app that I relied on on a daily basis and completely destroyed it. I’ve used the app live for many years but this horrendous change may leave me no choice but to start investigating other radar detector devices and companies.
  • Thumbs down on new app version

    By svisconti (Pcmac user)

Got back in my car after a stop and saw a new version of the the app Live app was active and was very disappointed with the user interface, and because it was new but that the design was pretty dreadful. The screen with the map wasn’t that bad (though the original was better in my opinion) but the design of the dashboard was the worst part. That dark gray background overwhelms and the digital numerals for the speed are much smaller than the original and almost illegible. The ring around the speedometer is barely visible and I have no idea what the extra wedge shaped at the four corners surrounding the speedometer are! Way too fussy and distracting. Not enough visual contrast. Seriously, if I could give it no stars I would. In concept the app worked great. I’m not sure why the wholesale change. None of the changes enhance the apps use and even some of the color choices mystify me. Those green lines top and bottom of the screen serve no outpost but to distract from what is already an inferior UI. Sorry, the app. Great detectors but you should can this new version of the app and go back to the previous one ASAP.
  • Good device app ok

    By Depdoc (Pcmac user)

This app’s real competition is Waze. The disadvantage of this app is that it requires the user to have an the app radar detector and pay a subscription fee. This limits the number of users. Also, it is not enabled for AppleCarPlay. Waze is free, has more users and is CarPlay compatible. The advantage of this app is that if another user’s detector finds a Ka band radar, you will be alerted that there is active radar (or laser) ahead. This is a great warning for both instant on and moving patrol cars. Waze can’t do this. I use Waze on my AppleCarPlay and have the app Live on for audio warnings. If the app Live gets more users and CarPlay support, it would be a real winner.
